Adult Respite

Adult Respite gives families a break from caregiving and gives the individual an opportunity to become more independent and develop meaningful relationships in their community. A respite caregiver assumes the usual daily activities that a parent or primary caregiver does. Community Options coordinates respite by recruiting and screening caregivers and paying for their services. Community Options has made a commitment to provide quality community-based respite care for adults with disabilities and provide support to committed respite caregivers. The individual and his/her caregivers have the choice of having the respite provided in their own home or the caregiver’s home ‒ whichever best meets their needs.

If you are interested in becoming a respite caregiver, please call our office at 250-380-6363. You will be connected with a coordinator who will get some basic information from you and answer any questions you may have. If you prefer, you can also fill in this pre-screening form online. Please note that we receive a lot of applications, so we will only get in touch with you if we are looking for new respite caregivers and feel you are a good match for one of the people we serve.

Community Options contracts for respite services to children and adults, supported living services for adults and Home Sharing services for adults. Safety, well-being and respect for the individual served and his or her family is paramount. Potential caregivers are carefully screened.

Contracted caregivers are not employees of Community Options. They are self-employed and the specific provisions of the relationship with Community Options is laid out in the Contract.

If you are interested in contracting with Community Options, you may fill out the form below. Please note that you will not be contacted unless we have a need for the specific service in which you are interested.
